Introducing SPC Granular X
On this page4 sections
Meet SPC Granular X — the granular instrument of the SPC line. Not three identical engines fighting for attention, but a focused, playable signal path: Sample A → Grain B → Color C. Load a source, granulate it, colour the result — and play the whole chain like a synth.
The Grain Lab
Rate, size, contour and spray set the grain engine’s character; random pitch, warp modes, feedback and liquefy push it from shimmer to smear. Sample playback speed and grain traversal are shaped independently, so the instrument plays like a sampler synth instead of a tape machine — hold a note and decide whether the sound moves, freezes or crawls.
Drag a chip, move a knob
Modulation is drag-and-drop: pick up an ENV, LFO or MACRO chip and drop it on any illuminated control. Four envelopes, an LFO Lab, Spectral Routing and a per-engine FX Rack cover the deep end, while four macros — Motion, Color, Space, Chaos — steer the whole instrument from four knobs.
Sources included
A 22-WAV factory source library gets you moving, and your own samples drop straight in. MIDI preview and mapping bring hardware controllers into the loop.
Built for the stage
Performance Safe Mode keeps live sets unbreakable — audio stays CPU-authoritative, the interface backs off before the sound ever does. The Graphite Console (an OP-XY and Serum 2 child, in the family’s own graphite) keeps everything one page deep.
SPC Granular X is a Windows CLAP instrument — see the full page at spectral-colors.com/plugins/spc-granular-x. Texture design at instrument speed.
