SPC RogueFX is a spectral multi-effect with a playable arcade roguelike built inside the plugin. Two modes, one signal path
FX Scope mode
FX Scope turns RogueFX into a modular studio processor. Drag effects into a new order, build modulation, shape frequency areas, record output and save the result as a repeatable preset.
Game mode
Game mode activates the arcade roguelike. Player movement, attacks and progress become musical control data. Instead of drawing every modulation curve in advance, you perform the effect by navigating and fighting.
The point is not to hide the processor. It is to give sound design a second input language: play.
Nine reorderable effect engines
The signal board lets you drag engines into different orders. Processing order matters: smearing before pitch treatment is not the same as shifting first; stereo movement before time effects creates a different result from spreading the echoes afterward.
The board is designed for exploration without making the result disposable. Once a chain works, it can remain a normal preset and be used without the game.
Two dynamic EQ systems
RogueFX includes:
- a six-point dynamic EQ with thirteen filter types, including conventional cuts and more experimental comb and formant shapes;
- Color Deck, a three-point dynamic resonance and coloring section.
These let the plugin react selectively across the spectrum rather than moving the entire signal for every gameplay event.

Stereo and time manipulation
The Spreader places low, middle and high ranges in the stereo field. Dual Time divides buffer-based processing into independent ranges. That allows gameplay or LFO movement to affect one part of the spectrum differently from another.
Check mono compatibility and output level during extreme sound design. A dramatic visual or stereo result is not automatically a usable mix decision.
Six LFOs and 66 modulation slots
Six tempo-syncable LFOs each offer eleven shapes, creating 66 drag-and-drop modulation slots. These are the bridge between repeatable studio movement and the less predictable game-driven system.
Use conventional modulation when you need exact, recurring motion. Use Game mode when performance and discovery are part of the result. Combine them when the underlying pulse should remain stable while gameplay changes the detail.
Is it a game or a professional effect?
It is deliberately both. The audio system does not stop being a processor when the dungeon appears, and the game does not have to run when a producer wants direct access.
RogueFX is best suited to:
- evolving transitions and ear candy;
- spectral smears, shifts and animated texture;
- performed effects for resampling;
- unpredictable fills and breakdowns;
- sound-design sessions where discovery matters.
For transparent correction, a focused EQ, gate or compressor may be the simpler tool. RogueFX is for moments when controlled instability is useful.
Record the performance
Because gameplay creates a changing performance, RogueFX includes WAV recording. Capture several passes, then edit the strongest moments like any other recorded improvisation. That turns the roguelike from a novelty into a practical resampling instrument.
